LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Mercyhurst pounded out 23 hits while limiting SUNY-Canton to just four in a doubleheader sweep of the Roos. The Lakers won the first half of the twinbill by a 9-1 count before taking the nightcap by a 5-1 count.
Mercyhurst (5-2) had six players collect multiple-hit efforts on the day and were led by
Kevin McCall, who went 4-for-6, including a double and a triple. He also added two RBI and scored three runs.
Zak Blair also tallied four hits on the day in eight trips to the plate and scored a team-best four runs.
Ethan Santora and
Jonathan Keppler each collected three hits, with Santora driving in three and scoring two runs.
Justin Urschel and
Craig Denman rounded out the Lakers with multiple hits, each collecting a pair.
On the hill for the Lakers,
Zach Leitten earned the win in the opener after allowing one earned run on two hits while fanning 11 of 22 batters faced.
Scott Knoche completed the game, throwing an inning of hitless relief. In the nightcap, Duffy evened his season record at 1-1 with six innings of shutout work. He allowed just two hits while striking out nine.
Dan Parker finished the game, giving up an unearned run but striking out the side in the process.
Mercyhurst returns to action tomorrow, Feb. 27 when they play Hillsdale in a single nine-inning game.
