Box Score Akron, Oh.- Mercyhurst began their final series of the 2025 season with a 14-8 loss to Akron. The Lakers took a quick lead, but the Zips offense took fire in the late innings to pull away and steal the first game of the series.

How it Happened:
The Lakers got off to a quick start in the first inning. Joey Trivisonno opened up scoring up with an RBI triple that saw
Chris Juchno cross the plate. Jadyen Walker tacked on his 39
th RBI of the season before the end of the first to give Mercyhurst a 2-0 lead. But Akron wasn't going to go down without a fight. The Zips tied things up in the second, but that tie didn't last long.
Chris Juchno helped Mercyhurst retake the lead in the third with a two-run homer and then followed it up with an RBI double in the fourth. But the Zips didn't waste much time getting back on the board. They took their first lead of the day in the fourth after a four run inning.

The Lakers didn't get on the board again until the sixth inning, which saw Juchno and Trivisonno hit RBI singles to tie it back up.
Chandler Powell added another run for Mercyhurst, but the Zips brought across five runs in the seventh inning to give themselves a comfortable 14-8 lead. Â That score would hold up to the final of game one.
