Akron, Oh.- Mercyhurst found themselves on the losing end of another close game on Friday afternoon. The Lakers dropped game two to Akron in 2-0 contest that saw
Jacob Bazala lose his final start of the 2025 season. The Lakers have just one more game before the conclusion of their first season at the Division I level.
Â
How it Happened:
The game was a low scoring contest that featured just six total hits. It was a complete 180 from yesterday's matchup, which featured 22 total runs and 26 overall hits. It was Akron who made the most of their hits, however. Andrew Horvath hit in the Zips first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning. But from there, the teams combined for just three hits over the next four innings.
Â
The Lakers final hit of the day came in the top of the sixth inning when Joey Trivisonno hit a double down the right field line with one out. But back-to-back outs quickly ended the Lakers' hopes of tying things up. Akron added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth and then closed things out in the top of the ninth to take the series. The Lakers will have an opportunity to close the season with a win tomorrow in their final game of the season.
Â
Next Game:
The Lakers and Zips will go at it once more. The action tomorrow will start at 1:00 p.m. as the Lakers look to end their first Division I season on a high note.
