Bridgewater, NJ.- Eric Chorba and Jacob Bazala capped off their senior seasons with some honors on Wednesday, when they were both named Second Team All-NEC. The duo from Norwin High School made a huge impact on the field in 2025 and were a big part of the Lakers .500 finish in conference play.

Chorba led the Lakers on the offensive side of things this season. He led Mercyhurst from start to finish in batting average, hitting .321. He led the Lakers in hits with 62 and was tied for second in extra base hits with 16. His six home runs were also good enough for second on team, behind only Jayden Walker who hit 12. Chorba had the eighth most hits in the conference.

Two of his most impactful hits came on March 28 and March 29 when he hit back-to-back walk offs for the Lakers. On March 28, he helped the Lakers take game one of their series against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a walk off home run and he followed it up the next day with a walk off single to help them seal the series.

Bazala was dominant on the mound all season for Mercyhurst. He began the year as a reliever but quickly earned his spot as the No. 2 starter for the Lakers. Bazala pitched 81.1 innings this year and he was third in the entire conference with 85 strikeouts. He posted a 7-4 record in 20 appearances, including a 3-2 record over his last five starts. He went at least 7.0 innings in each of his final five starts.

Much like Chorba, one of Bazala's best weekends came in the series against UMES. Bazala picked up all three wins in the Lakers first ever Division I sweep. He pitched a total of 9.0 innings over those three matchups and struck out seven batters, while allowing just seven hits.
