MARSHALL, Minn.—The Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced their All-American Baseball teams. Mercyhurst first basemen Josh Surowiec has been named the third team first basemen.
The Williamsville, NY native has now been named to three All-Region teams while also being named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. In his final season at Mercyhurst, Surowiec had a career season while also having one of the best seasons in program history. He hit .430 at the plate while also setting a new program record with 17 homers this season. While hitting 17 homers he closed the regular season as the PSAC batting leader heading into the postseason. The graduate student finished the season leading the Lakers in all hitting categories while leading the PSAC in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and OPS. He was third in the PSAC in walks per game while he drew the fourth most walks in the PSAC.
Surowiec joins a lengthy list of former Lakers to be named an All-American, at least one Laker has earned the honor dating back to 2013, most recently Michael Krauza earned the honor. The ABCA will announced their All-American team on June 3rd.
