Indianapolis, In. - Mercyhurst Women's Soccer finds themselves named in the third NCAA DII Regional Ranking of the season, announced the NCAA as they come in at ninth in the Atlantic Region. Mercyhurst is one of the five PSAC teams listed in the region while the Lakers are now 10-5-4 and looking to keep their playoff hopes alive.
To this point in the season, the Laker's offense has been very team-oriented with only one player scoring more than three goals on the year in Karah Van Horn with seven. Assists is another category where the team hasn't relied on any one player being the main facilitator as Madison Hoover and Teagan Mehalko are tied for the team lead with three while a trio of Lakers are tied for second with two apiece.
After dropping their final three regular season contests, Mercyhurst won in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament in their 1-0 win over Slippery Rock. The Lakers finally overcame the Rock in 2022 after tying in their two previous matchups with a goal from Amber Thomas being the difference in the 27th minute.
Other teams mentioned in the Atlantic Region are other PSAC opponents in West Chester, Gannon, Bloomsburg, and Kutztown with the Golden Rams holding the top spot. For a look at the full list of teams named, click here.
The Lakers continue their run in the PSAC Tournament on Friday, November 4th, as they are set to play West Chester at noon at Gannon in their semifinals matchup.
