Box Score 3 Morgantown, WV – Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo finished their weekend in the Conference Crossover with three losses with two on Saturday and one more on Sunday to move to 2-14 on the year.
How It Happened
The Lakers traveled to Morgantown, WV for another busy weekend of action with three games scheduled across two days. In the first matchup, they took on Wagner University and despite great efforts, the Lakers lost the game by a score of 19-6. Owen Hardner led the charge for Mercyhurst with two goals, as Tony Golin had 14 saves while Parker Wood recorded 15 more.
In the second game of the day, the Lakers competed against Navy. Mercyhurst started slow once again as they let their opponents build a comfortable lead as they found themselves down 6-0 at the end of the opening quarter and then 12-1 at the half. They tried to pull off the comeback but were unable to do so as the game ended with a score of 17-3.
The final match of the weekend was a one-sided affair as Fordham took down Mercyhurst 23-2. JP Kirouac and Benjamin Villareal scored one goal each for the Lakers with Kirouac's score being his fourth of the year while Villareal grabbed goal number one of 2022.
What's Next
The Lakers now prepare for postseason play as they are set to take part in CWPA Division II Championships starting on Friday, October 21st inside Hallman Aquatic Center with competition set to take place through the 23rd.
