Slippery Rock, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Soccer finished out their weekend on the road with a matchup with the Rock that saw the game end in a 0-0 tie to move the Lakers to 7-2-4
How It Happened
The beginning of the game saw a lot of back-and-forth action, as both teams couldn't take the charge on the field. In 17th minute of the game Amber Thomas tried to surprise Slippery Rock's goalkeeper but her shot was saved. The Rock also had some chances to score, as Morgan Sarver's shot in 20th minute of the game was saved by Laker keeper Maddie Elbro.
The Lakers kept applying pressure, but despite their best effort, they couldn't get through their opponent's defense as they took four shots with two of them on target in the opening half. With both teams giving their best efforts on defense through the first 45 minutes the score stayed at 0-0 going into the halftime break.
The second half was very similar to the first, as neither team could capitalize on their scoring opportunities and exploit mistakes. In the 60th minute of the match, Taryn Baxter took a good shot on the goal, but she missed while Karah Van Horn met a similar fate in the 67th minute of the game as Slippery Rocks goalkeeper got the save.
Slippery Rock also kept pushing the ball forward. In 75th minute Kayla Swope took a shot to the right, but Maddie Elbro was right there to save it. Van Horn tried her luck with couple minutes left on the clock, but it was unsuccessful. Allysa Poleski had one more chance to score in 89th minute, as her shot to the left was saved. The Lakers finished the game with a tie, 0-0.
By the Numbers
Despite the Lakers 'efforts, they were unable to take a lead in the rematch against the Rock. They took eight shots, and five of them on target, whereas Slippery Rock took thirteen and three on the goal. Slippery Rock have drawn thirteen corners but didn't capitalize on any of them. Maddie Elbro recorded three saves.

Mercyhurst is set to host UPJ on Wednesday, October 12th with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 pm.
