BELLE VERNON, Pa. --
Chris Kupniewski and
Harison Laskey recorded Top-10 individual finishes as the Mercyhurst men's golf team placed second among 13 teams at the California (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational. A total of 77 golfers competed at the 6,794-yard, par-72 Cedarbrook Gold Course.
Kupniewski tied for fourth with a three-round total of 217 (70-73-74) while Laskey took sixth with a 221 (77-70-74).
Also competing for the Laker team,
Adrian Larsen (79-74-76) and
Ryan Mehnert (78-71-80), tying for 29th with 229s.
Les Lancaster carded a three-round 230 (75-81-74).
Competing as an individual,
Zach Miller had a 226 (72-81-74) and tied for 22nd.
Mercyhurst had an 886, finishing behind team champion West Liberty (880) and ahead of Charleston (898), California, Pa. (898), Clarion (902), Indiana, Pa. (903), West Chester (906), Wheeling Jesuit (913), Shepherd (916), Point Park (919), Gannon (929), Notre Dame, Ohio (966) and Pittsburgh-Johnstown (986).
WLU's Matthew Iceton was the medalist with a 211 (72-72-67).
The Lakers will return to competition on Sept. 12-13, when they travel to Charleston, W. Va., for the Glade Springs Intercollegiate.
