Men's Golf Ties for Fifth at Colonel Classic

RICHMOND, Ky. — The Mercyhurst men's golf team tied for fifth at the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky, with a team score of 867, alongside Marshall. The Lakers showcased consistency with rounds of 288, 284, and 295 over the three-day event at The University Club at Arlington.
 
Peter Malo Jr. led the Lakers, tying for 19th place individually with a total score of 214 (+4). Malo's performance was highlighted by a second round of 68 (-2), the lowest round for the team in the tournament. Malo carded a 34 on the front and back, making four birdies on his way to a 68 in Saturday's second round.
 
Barrett Paolini contributed significantly, finishing tied for 28th with a score of 218 (+8). The freshman's found red figures in the opening round, shooting a 1-under 69. Paolini posted a 33 on the back nine with three birdies in the first round. He finished the tournament with rounds of 73 and 76.
 
Evan Rowane finished tied for 34th at 219 (+9), maintaining steady play with rounds of 73, 72, and 74.
 
Matthew Spadacini and Dan Gambone both tied for 46th, each posting scores of 224 (+14). Notably, Gambone improved his performance in the final round with a 73. Spadacini's second round was his best, carding a 71.
 
John White competed as an individual for the Lakers posting rounds of 80-77-80/237
 
The Lakers return to action next Monday, Sept. 29 at the Virtues Intercollegiate hosted by Miami (Ohio).
