ERIE Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's golf team won the Howard "Bud" Elwell tournament against eight other teams hosted by Gannon October 2nd – 3rd. The Laker's shot a total of 661 (310-301) coming in eight strokes under second place team Indian (Pa.). The individual medalist for this tournament was Mercyhurst's own Chris Kupniewski
who shot a 142 (71-71) finishing three strokes ahead of second place golfer Matt Barto of Gannon. The Lakers second team in the outing placed 9th overall all with a score of 662 (335-327)
 
The next top golfer was Harrison Laskey who scored a 148 (74-71) earning him a fourth place finish. In a tie for 20th place was Adrian Larsen who shot a 159 (84-75). Zach Miller finished the event with a 162 (82-80) having his overall finish in a tie for 27th. There was a five way tie for 29th place three of which were Lakers who shot 163, Ryan Mehert (83-80), Jose Pena (83-80), and Kyle McCafferty (82-81). Jacob Blondell shot a 173 (88-85) finishing in a tie for 49th place overall. Danny Zahn shot a 174 (93-81) earning himself a 51st place finish. The last golfer for the Lakers was Nick Eck golfing as an individual shot a 166 (79-87) earning himself a 39th place finish.
 
The Lakers will golf next at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa times for the event are yet to be announced.
