ERIE, Pa. – The women's soccer team lost their second straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game in a row Saturday afternoon against West Chester, 2-1.

In the first half, the Golden Rams put Mercyhurst goalie Kristen Koch to the test with three quick shots on goal. West Chester would get to the sophomore Koch, making her first start of the year in replace of injured junior Ellie McDougall, in the 10th minute when Carly Yost received a pass in the middle of the box from Lexi Lentz and headed into the upper right beating Koch.

West Chester continued putting pressure on the Lakers defense with three more shots on goal; until, they were able to find the back of the net again in the 27th minute to take a 2-0 advantage off a cross pass from Yost and one timed into the back of the net by Kara Parvel. The Golden Rams would keep their lead throughout the first half.

In the second, Mercyhurst would strike early in the 54th minute. A beautiful corner kick taken by senior Janine Wong landed in the middle of the box to find sophomore Linnea Laitinen where she was able to assist Kristina Roberti in front of the net to beat the keeper to the bottom right corner.

Mercyhurst would have a few more chances late in the contest, one coming off a Kiley Cleveland shot that just went wide of the net in the 87th minute. However, time would end up running out the Lakers and the game ended at 2-1.
The Golden Rams out-shot the Lakers 18-5, and Koch finished the game with seven saves.

West Chester improves to 5-0-0 overall (4-0-0 PSAC), while, Mercyhurst drops to 2-2-1 overall (2-2-1 PSAC).
