Women's Soccer Falls to Malone in Overtime

CANTON, Ohio – The Mercyhurst University women's soccer team lost 1-0 in overtime to Malone University on Wednesday afternoon.  The Lakers fell to 6-6-1 overall in the season.  Malone improved to 4-7-1.
  
Although the Lakers outshot Malone by a 26 to seven margin in regulation, the game remained scoreless after 90 minutes.  Mercyhurst's Lauren Testa, Nikki Charboneau, Carly Zimmerman, and Kristina Roberti all recorded two shots on net.
 
Malone's Christine Najjar scored the game winning goal at the 99:13 minute of the contest.  Ally Smith took a shot on the Lakers goaltender Ellie McDougall.  McDougall made the initial save, but Najjar was there to place the rebound into the back of the net.
 
McDougall made four saves and allowed one goal.  Her record dropped to 6-6-1 while in net for Mercyhurst.
 
The Lakers travel to Edinboro University to take on the Fighting Scots on Saturday, October 19.  Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
