ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University Lakers pulled out their second straight victory against the Notre Dame College Falcons on Saturday, winning the match by a score of 1-0.  Olivia Resch scored the lone goal at the 60:45 mark of the second making it the first of her season.  The match was held at Gannon University Field.

The Lakers controlled most of the first half creating a lot of opportunities.  Mercyhurst outshot Notre Dame ten to four in the first half of play, then again fourteen to five in the second.  The game was tied 0-0 until the Lakers sought out their opportunity.

It was Resch, a native of Scarborough, Ontario, who found the back of the net giving the Lakers the lead at the 60:45 mark.  Freshman Nikki Charboneau recorded the assist by passing the ball to Resch, a senior, catching Notre Dame goalie Kristy Kolschetzky off guard.  Resch took the chance and floated the ball over Kolschetzky's reach placing into the top right corner of the net.

The winning goaltender of the game was Lakers freshman Ellie McDougall, giving her a second straight shut-out and a record of 2-0-0.  She recorded four saves.  Falcons goaltender Kolschetzky recorded the loss of the match, making six saves and allowing one goal.

The Lakers continue the season with a 2-0-0 record.  Notre Dame falls to 0-2-0.  Mercyhurst University will be on the road next Wednesday, September 5, with a match against Slippery Rock University.  Time of the match will be at 4 p.m.
