Aina Torres scored two first-half goals and added a second period assist as Mercyhurst won its fourth game of the season by a 3-0 count Wednesday against Pennsylvania Athletic Conference {PSAC} rival Clarion. Sophomore

The Lakers fired four shots at Clarion netminder Laura Saussol in thr game's first eight minutes before Torres finally broke through in the tenth minute of play. Torres beat Saussol to the ball setting herself up for her third goal of the season. Freshman

Torres struck again in the 31
st minute after rifling a ball off a defender that deflected into the net. The goal was her team-leading fourth of the season.
Catrabone scored her second goal of the season at the 47:30 mark to give the Lakers a 3-0 lead to finish the scoring. Catabone's netter was assisted by Torres, her first helper this season.
The Lakers defense stood strong against Clarion's attack, giving up a season low two shots. Mercyhurst controlled much of the match shooting the ball 10 times in the first half and eight times in the second. The Lakers also held a advantage in corner kicks, 5-2.
Rachel Griepsma played all 90 minutes between the posts and didn't see a ball come her way. Griepsma's counterpart Saussol made four saves in each half.
The Lakers now own a 4-1-0 overall record and a 1-1-0 conference mark. The Golden Eagles slipped to 2-3-0 overall and 0-3-0 in PSAC play.
Mercyhurst now turns its attention to another PSAC team, Edinboro University. That game is scheduled to take place at Edinboro this Saturday, September 17, at 6 p.m.
