Lakers Strike Early, But CSU Rallies Late for Win

Erie, Pa. – Despite a five-goal outing from grad student Ethan Landymore and a hat trick from Jérémi Phoenix-Lefebvre, the Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Lacrosse team came up short in a back-and-forth battle with Cleveland State, falling 13-10 on Saturday afternoon at Saxon Stadium.

How It Happened

Mercyhurst opened the game with a dominant first quarter, scoring four unanswered goals after trailing 2-1. Landymore and Phoenix-Lefebvre each netted a pair in the run, and the Lakers held a 5–2 lead after the opening frame.

Cleveland State responded in the second, outscoring Mercyhurst 3–1 and tying the game at 6–6 early in the third. The Vikings seized control with a pair of third-quarter goals and continued to extend their lead in the fourth.

Landymore scored three of his five goals in the final quarter, including two assisted by Chase Petschke, who also tallied a goal and two assists. Phoenix-Lefebvre added an assist to finish with five points, but Mercyhurst couldn't overcome Cleveland State's 7-4 second-half advantage.
