The game commenced with the Lakers facing early challenges, falling behind as Le Moyne scored twice in quick succession, with Owen Wilson and Thomas Berry each finding the net. Despite this, the Lakers responded effectively during a man-up opportunity, as

Chase Petschke scoring his eighth goal of the season in the final second from the Le Moyne logo at half. The second quarter concluded with Mercyhurst trailing 10–3.
The Lakers opened the third quarter with a faceoff win by
Boden Clark, but an early turnover by Pagano halted initial momentum. However, Rembielak broke through with a goal at 8:10, assisted by
Ryan Mahoney, marking his third goal of the season. Despite a subsequent slashing penalty on Clark leading to a man-up goal for Le Moyne, the Lakers responded with a goal from Mastine at 4:55. The Dolphins capitalized on another opportunity, scoring again to maintain its lead. With the period ending, Mercyhurst was unable to close the gap further. The third quarter concluded with Le Moyne ahead 12–5.

Shortly after, Rembielak capitalized on a man-up situation, again assisted by Mahoney, narrowing the gap. Despite these efforts, Le Moyne responded with three goals, including one from Wilson, maintaining their lead.
The Lakers continued to battle, with
