Richmond, Va. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Lacrosse team struggled against a high-powered Richmond offense, falling 23-3 on the road Tuesday afternoon. The Lakers were unable to slow down the Spiders, who had 14 different goal scorers in the win.
How It Happened:
Richmond set the tone early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. The Spiders continued to push the pace in the second, outscoring Mercyhurst 6-0 to take a 10-0 lead into halftime.
Mercyhurst finally got on the board in the third quarter when Mahoney scored unassisted at 9:40, but Richmond responded with seven more goals in the frame to extend their advantage to 17-2. Phoenix-Lefebvre added a late goal with 11 seconds left in the third, assisted by Ethan Landymore, while Mills scored the Lakers' final goal with 3:30 remaining in the game.
Richmond's attack proved relentless, outshooting Mercyhurst 56-19 and winning 25 of 30 faceoffs.
