Hampton, Va. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Lacrosse team secured their first victory of the season and first at the Division I level in dominant fashion, rolling past Hampton 22-6 on Sunday evening. The Lakers controlled the game from start to finish, led by four-goal performances from Ethan Landymore, Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre, and Josh Mills.
How It Happened:
Mercyhurst came out firing, taking a 5-2 lead after the first quarter behind goals from Landymore, Phoenix-Lefebvre, Chase Petschke, Antonio Rossetti, and Colin Tardif. The Lakers extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Hampton 5-2 to enter halftime with a commanding 10-4 advantage.
The third quarter saw Mercyhurst put the game out of reach, as the Lakers scored six unanswered goals, pushing their lead to 16-5. Mills and Phoenix-Lefebvre each netted a pair of goals in the frame, while Ryan Mahoney and Landymore also found the back of the net.
In the final quarter, Mercyhurst continued to apply pressure, scoring six more times to seal the victory. Tardif, Mills, and Braeden Kerr capped off the offensive explosion as the Lakers cruised to the 22-6 win.
