Hampton, Va. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Lacrosse team secured their first victory of the season and first at the Division I level in dominant fashion, rolling past Hampton 22-6 on Sunday evening. The Lakers controlled the game from start to finish, led by four-goal performances from Ethan Landymore, Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre, and Josh Mills. 

How It Happened: 

Mercyhurst came out firing, taking a 5-2 lead after the first quarter behind goals from Landymore, Phoenix-Lefebvre, Chase Petschke, Antonio Rossetti, and Colin Tardif. The Lakers extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Hampton 5-2 to enter halftime with a commanding 10-4 advantage. 

The third quarter saw Mercyhurst put the game out of reach, as the Lakers scored six unanswered goals, pushing their lead to 16-5. Mills and Phoenix-Lefebvre each netted a pair of goals in the frame, while Ryan Mahoney and Landymore also found the back of the net. 

In the final quarter, Mercyhurst continued to apply pressure, scoring six more times to seal the victory. Tardif, Mills, and Braeden Kerr capped off the offensive explosion as the Lakers cruised to the 22-6 win. 

Notable Performances: 

• Ethan Landymore (4G, 0A), Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre (4G, 0A), and Josh Mills (4G, 2A) led the Lakers in scoring. 

• Ryan Mahoney had a seven-point performance (3G, 4A), providing key playmaking. 

• Colin Tardif contributed three goals and one assist, while Chase Petschke and Braeden Kerr each added a goal. 

• Goalkeeper Tyler Moritzen made nine saves to secure the victory. 

• Mercyhurst outshot Hampton 62-28, including a 41-15 advantage in shots on goal. 

• The Lakers dominated at the faceoff X, winning 22 of 32 draws.

Mercyhurst (1-4) will look to build on this victory when they travel to the University of Richmond for a game on Tuesday.  Face-off is set for 3 PM.
