Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst Rowing's coaching staff gets a bit bigger with two new coaches entering the fray, announces the university, as Nick Hannon and Krista Adams joins Adrian Spracklen's staff.
Hannon previously rowed for the Lakers from 2017 through the 2020-21 season, earning a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Criminology while minoring in Photography. The native of Gladwyne, Pa. has been rowing competitively since 2014 and has moved into coaching in the past few years. Hannon began his time as a coach at the Malvern Preparatory School where he was an Assistant Coach beginning in 2021. This past year, he has worked with both the Fairport Crew Club and the Rochester Boat Club as an Assistant Coach and looks to bring his expertise back to Erie in hopes of helping his alma mater.
"I feel very fortunate to have both Nick and Krista join our rowing family. They bring a lot to the table and each have their own individual skill set that will complement mine and together will help move the program on to greater success," said Director of Rowing Adrian Spracklen on the latest asquisitions. "I am excited to work with them and excited for the future of the program."
Adams graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2008 with a Bachelor's in English with a concentration in Literature before earning her Personal Training Specialist Certification from both the Canadian Fitness Professional's and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. While at Tennessee, Adams was a member of the women's varsity rowing team for four years, being named the captain during her senior season while getting the nod as a Second Team All-American. Since leaving Knoxville, Adams has worked with a number of institutions and organizations in their strength and conditioning departments and hopes that experience breeds success for the Lakers this season.
Hannon and Adam begin their time with the Lakers immediately, gearing up for the first race of the season on October 8th in the Findlay Laker Classic.
