SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Mercyhurst men's rowing teams finished out their season at IRA National Championships in Sacramento, California Saturday afternoon. The lightweight 4+ highlighted the weekend with a bronze medal.
Â
The crew of Keri Manning,
Ilias Petalidis,
Ralph Kasow IV,
Marko Dojcinovic, and
Bogdan Protic finished with a time of 06:27.396, finishing behind winners Pennsylvania and runners up Princeton.
Â
"It was hard racing all weekend. The heavies left it all out there and gained a ton of experience from it," said head coach
Jonathan Rost. "The lessons learned will carry over and build for next year. The lightweight 4 might be one of the toughest events of the regatta. Three races after cutting weight all season to go out and perform is hard. These guys were tough and faced each battle at their absolute best and have the medal to prove it. It was a solid weekend all around and we bring nine of the 10 athletes back next year to keep pushing the standard forward."Â
Â
The heavyweight 4+ raced in the D final, finishing fourth place behind Santa Clara, Loyola, and Trinity.
Â
The squad of
Dylan McLean,
Mateja Jelisavic,
Brayden Pinkham,
Liam Wise, and
Isaac Feldmann finished in 06:57.520.
