Mercyhurst Rowing continues to show their prowess not only in the water, but in the classroom with four individuals being named Empacher-IRCA Scholar Athletes for the 2022-23 season. The four Lakers who were named recipients are:

Zachary Porter Buffalo, N.Y. Cyber Security

Jarrett Richman Hewitt, N.J. Economics

The Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association was formed in 2020 and provides a collaborative forum for coaches of men's varsity programs to discuss ideas and issues related to the promotion, preservation, and continued growth of the coaching profession and men's collegiate rowing in the United States.

The Awards and Polling Committee is comprised of coaches across all divisions of men's collegiate rowing and in collaboration with the Intercollegiate Rowing Association, facilitates the sport's weekly polls during the competitive spring season. The primary goal of the committee is to acknowledge the hard work, commitment, and success of the athletes and coaches through its annual awards, which include, among others, All-Americans, Scholar Athletes, and Div. I, Div. III, and Lightweight Coach and Staff of the Year.
