Ahead of the Western Water Polo Association Championships, the conference names their All-WWPA teams with the Lakers having four members named. Hanna Good and Panna Mozbauer are both named to the All-WWPA Second Team while Mozbauer is named to the All-Freshman Team as well. Sara Marin and Allie Dombkowski find their names on the list as well as they are both named as All-WWPA Honorable Mentions.
This marks the second-straight season Good has been named to an All-WWPA team with the senior being named an Honorable Mention a season ago. Good led the team in goals this season with 19 while adding in two assists to her line. Her shot percentage proved to be tops on the team as well with a mark of .404, proving to be a very efficient scorer in the water.
Mozbauer was a stalwart in the goal for the Lakers and she was awarded for her success on defense with her nod as a member of both the All-WWPA Second and Freshmen teams. The native of Gyur, Hungary made her presence felt in her first season at Mercyhurst with 55 saves to her name for a save percentage of .393 to go along with seven steals.
Sara Marin makes it a third straight season in which she has scored double-digit goals, helping her be named an All-WWPA Honorable Mention. The graduate student was one of the top offensive threats for Mercyhurst all season long with 14 goals to her name with a .389 shot percentage. She also made a difference on defense with eight steals, the fourth most of any Laker in the 2022-23 campaign.
Allie Dombkowski rounds out the award winners for the Lakers as she was named an All-WWPA Honorable Mention alongside Marin. Dombkowski and the aforementioned Marin were a dynamic scoring duo for the Lakers as they were tied for second on the team in goals with 14 while the native of Erie, Pa. finishing with a .359 shot percentage. She also finished with 10 steals as well to be the only Lakers with double-digit goals and steals as Dombkowksi proved to be a solid two-way player.
Mercyhurst gets back in the water tomorrow, April 28th, as they are set to take on Cal State East Bay in the opening round of the WWPA Championships with the two teams set to face off at 10:45 a.m.
