ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Mercyhurst fell to Bucknelly 11-2 at the final day of the CWPA Championship at Canham Natatorium. The Lakers managed two goals in the final quarter after being held scoreless through the first three quarters.
Bucknell dominated the early stages of the match, with Aliyah Cohen opening the scoring in the first quarter and Ashley Hopper adding another. The team's momentum continued as Cohen scored again, followed by a goal from Addison Wedding, ending the first quarter with a 4-0 lead. Bucknell extended its lead in the second quarter with goals from Wedding and Lin Naroaka, bringing the score to 6-0. Although the Lakers managed two goals in the fourth quarter from
Krista Domaracki and
Bri Allstun, Bucknell's Flora Beleznay and Anna Bautista scored late to secure an 11-2 victory. Bucknell outshot the Lakers 33-24, including two successful penalty shots, showcasing its offensive efficiency throughout the match.
Gianna Boscacci anchored the defense with nine saves, showcasing her skills in the net. Allstun contributed offensively by scoring one goal on six attempts. Domaracki also added to the scoreboard with a goal from four shots.
Bailey Dunn excelled in sprint wins, successfully capturing two for her team.
