Box Score 1 Erie, Pa. – Women's Water Polo was unstoppable on the first day of WWPA Conference Weekend. The Lakers grabbed an important win against their cross-town rival Gannon, 12-8, and follow that with another impressive victory against Salem, 13-12. Mercyhurst move to 6-8 overall record and are now undefeated in conference.

First Game
The Lakers came to the Hallman Aquatic Center for an action-packed day in the swimming pool. They started the day with an early game against Gannon, and despite a slight delay they came out ready.

The Golden Knights started the game well as they scored first two goals, but the Lakers didn't give up and finished the quarter losing by one goal, 4-3. Mercyhurst stepped on the gas in the second as
Hanna Good scored two goals in a row, putting her team in the lead at 5-4.
Allie Dombkowski added a goal of her own while Good scored once again before the halftime, extending the lead to 7-5.

The Lakers stayed hot in the second half as they continued their scoring run with
Sakura Gavin putting the ball in the net, 8-6. Mercyhurst held on to their lead for the rest of the match and eventually won their first WWPA game of the season, 12-8.

Second Game
The squad came back to the pool for one more game, and to celebrate their seniors in intense matchup with the Tigers. The Lakers started well as they went on the scoring run early and won the first quarter 4-3. They continued in the second, and after a nice goal from
Sara Marin, they won the first half by a score of 7-6.

Both teams played very well defensively in the third quarter, as the Lakers managed to hold on to their one-goal lead, 8-7. Mercyhurst started the last period well as
Ava Gebhardt scored a nice goal to extend the lead, 9-7.

The Tigers worked hard to come back, but the Lakers managed to hold their own on the defensive side as
Panna Mozbauer recorded a couple of impressive saves down the stretch. The Lakers eventually defeated Salem by a score of 13-12 and registered their second conference win of the season.

Highlights
Hanna Good led the charge with seven goals on the day and she was helped by
Sara Marin with five. The Lakers played a team-oriented brand of water polo as eight players scored in the game against Salem.

The Lakers return to the Hallman Aquatic Center tomorrow, as they are scheduled to take on McKendree at 9 a.m. in another conference matchup to round out the weekend.
