Erie, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Water Polo records their first win of the season, as they defeat Penn-State Behrend in the second match of the day, 19-10. They also fell to Iona by a score of 13-6 and La Salle, 20-7.

First Game

The Lakers came to the Hallman Aquatic Center for an early match against Iona. Allie Dombkowski started the game well, as she netted the first goal for the squad to make it 1-0. The Gaels went on a run, overtook the Lakers, and extended the lead to 4-1.

Dombkowski scored one more time and Sara Marin also added a goal before halftime, but Iona remained in the lead, though, at 7-4. The Gaels continued their run in the second half, and despite a great effort by the Lakers, they won the game by a score of 13-6.

Dombkowski led the charge with three goals, and Panna Mozbauer registered 11 saves and two steals.

Second Game

Mercyhurst redeemed themselves in the second match of the day, as they grabbed their first victory of the season. Led by Bri Allstun in the fourth quarter, the Lakers dominated their opponents winning the game by a score of 19-10.

Third Game

The Lakers finished the busy day with one more game at the Hallman Aquatic Center. In their last match, they fell to La Salle by a score of 20-7. Once again Dombkowski led her team with three goals, followed by Hanna Good with two. Mozbauer registered 13 saves in the goal.

What's Next

The squad returns to the pool tomorrow for another busy day of competition. They take on Wittenberg at 8:00 a.m. and follow that with a matchup against St. Francis-Brooklyn at 11:45 a.m.
