ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Women's Tennis team will be back in action tomorrow at the Westwood Racquet Club for their final regular season dual match of the 2021-22 season when they host Clarion.
Laker Overview
The Lakers are coming off a week that saw them split a pair of PSAC West contests. They first fell to Slippery Rock on Thursday after play was suspended on Wednesday due to inclement weather. The Lakers did manage to get wins from
Sara Bertolez Puente and
Valentine Budin in doubles and
Kayla Dean in her No.1 singles position, however it was not enough as the Rock came away with a 6-1 victory.
Last Friday the Lakers came away with a 7-0 sweep over Edinboro. The Lakers took all nine matches that were played as they look to keep their conference record above .500, currently sitting at 3-2.
Scouting Clarion
The Golden Eagles have compiled a 1-12 record this season with their lone win coming back in the fall against division 3 Thiel College. They have been defeated by 7-0 scores in five of their last six matches as Clarion was able to capture a single point against California (Pa) on April 2nd. Since 2008 Clarion has only defeated the Lakers once coming back in April of 2008 by a 5-4 margin. Since then the Lakers have won the past 11 contests between the two teams.
Up Next
Following their match with Clarion, the Lakers will most likely find themselves matched up against Slippery Rock in the quarterfinal round of the PSAC Playoffs on Tuesday April 26th.
