ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's tennis team hosted the Dukes of Duquesne as they honored their graduating seniors on Sunday. After a string of difficult defeats, the Lakers were looking to right the ship as they concluded their weekend action.

In singles competition,
Daria Rogova fell to an early deficit after falling 6-1 in her opening set. She was able to answer back with a 7-5 win, but ultimately fell in the final set 6-0. On the second court, senior
Simone Mercier dominated in her opening set, coming away with a 6-1 victory. Mercier fell 6-4 in a tight second set and eventually pushed her final set to the limits, falling 7-6 with a 7-3 tiebreaker.
Kiersten Brown saw action on the third court, where she fell in a tight opening set 6-4 before falling 6-2 to end her match.
Ellyana Jacobs fell 6-2 and 6-0 in her sets while
Celeste Davis fell 6-3 and 6-1 over on the fifth court.
Mollie Gray fell on the sixth court 6-0 in both sets.

In doubles competition, the team Rogova and Davis took on the Dukes on the first court, but fell 6-2. The second Laker duo of Mercier and Brown came away with a tight 7-5 victory on the second court while Gray and Jacobs fell 6-0.

The Lakers ultimately fell 7-0 to the Dukes.

The Lakers will next travel to Olean, New York as they take on St. Bonaventure Tuesday, March 24. Start time set for 10:00 AM.
