CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win on Sunday afternoon over the host California Vulcans. The Lakers claimed victory in two of the three double matches while sweeping all six singles matches up for grabs.

In doubles play, the Lakers No.1 pair of Naomi Jahr and Nadja Ostojic were winners by a 6-0 margin. The Lakers No.3 tandem of Roisin Murphy and Valentine Budin earned the doubles win for the Lakers winning by a 6-0 score.

In singles action, it took Jahr three sets at No.1 singles to claim victory, winning by a 6-0,3-6,10-6 score. The Lakers would go on to take the remaining five matches in straight sets with Ostojic winning at the No.2 spot 6-0,6-4. Murphy was a winner 6-3,6-2 and Sara Bertolez Puente swept her opponent 6-0,6-0. At the No.5 singles match Janice Theodora defeated her opponent 6-1,6-1 and Budin rounded out the action with a 6-0,6-3 score.

The Lakers will return to action on Wednesday at Slippery Rock.
