ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Women's Water Polo team is slated for two more games this Saturday at the Penn State Behrend Invite. The Lakers will first match up with the host PSB at 10:00 a.m. followed by a WWPA conference game against Salem scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Laker Overview
The last time the Lakers were in action was two weeks ago at the WWPA Conference Weekend hosted by McKendree. Mercyhurst played tightly contested contests with Salem, Gannon, and McKendree, however they dropped all three in their first conference action of the season.
Allie Dombkowski led the Lakers on attack with 5 goals and three assists in those contests, while
Hanna Good and
Sara Marin each contributed four goals for the green and white. On defense
Rachel Vlietstra had four steals and
Marley Ramon made 19 saves in goal for the Lakers.
Scouting Penn State Behrend
The Lions enter Saturday sporting a 4-12 record although they did win their most recent contest, a 9-4 decision over Grove City last Saturday. Since 2017 the Lakers are undefeated against PSB going 17-0 in matches played against one another. Most recently the Lakers defeated Behrend in their last matchup 11-3 which was played in late March 2021.
Scouting Salem
The Tiger's Women's Water Polo team has amassed an 11-16 record this season playing games against nationally ranked UCLA, Hawaii, and Stanford. The Tigers just recently defeated Mercyhurst two weekends ago by a 15-8 score. The Lakers will look to get their revenge against Salem on Saturday.
Up Next
Following this week's action at Behrend, the Lakers will close out regular season play next weekend at the Hallman Aquatics Center where they will play Gannon and McKendree.
