Baseball Announces Spring Schedule

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst Baseball releases their schedule for the 2023 season as they gear up for another year. After a very productive campaign last time around, the Lakers look for their fifth season of 30 wins or more in their last seven tries.

Mercyhurst begins their season on the road with a pair of tournaments as they are set to play in the Glenville State Tournament beginning February 24th followed by the Salem Tournament which runs from March 3rd through the 5th. They'll then remain away from their friendly confines as they are set to play a four-game set against Findlay beginning on March 9th, running through the 12th, before playing Notre Dame (Oh.) on the 14th before coming home.

The Laker's home opener is scheduled for March 17th with Grand Valley State set to come to Erie for a doubleheader with times of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. They'll then host Salem for a two-game set on March 19th at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. before going back out on the road.

Soon after Mercyhurst's first home stand, they begin conference play as the team sees Slippery Rock in their conference opener on Friday, March 24th, at 1:00 p.m. at Slippery Rock. The PSAC series continues back on the Mercyhurst Baseball Field the following day with a doubleheader before Clarion comes to town on the 31st for a pair of games to round out the month of March.

The Lakers continue their march through the PSAC in April with Clarion on the 1st on the road before a four-game set with crosstown rivals, Gannon, the following weekend. Coach Spano's crew then takes a short break from their conference schedule as they make the trip to Lake Erie to face the Storm for one game on Tuesday, April 11th, at 2:00 p.m.

After that, Mercyhurst goes back to clashing with conference foes as they see UPJ on April 14th and 15th with Cal (Pa.) to follow on the 21st and 22nd of April. The Lakers then play their final non conference game with Notre Dame (Oh.) coming to Erie for one game on April 25th before wrapping up April on the 28th and 29th with IUP.

Seton Hill is the final foe on the docket for Mercyhurst as they meet in the first week of May as the Griffins fly into Erie on Thursday the 4th for a pair of games beginning at 1:00 p.m. while the Lakers finish their regular season schedule at Seton Hill the following day at 1:00 p.m.
