Lebanon, IL – Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo falls to Gannon in the last game of the CWPA Conference Weekend. The two Erie teams battle with the Golden Knights getting the better of the matchup by a final of 8-2
How It Happened
The Lakers returned to the McKendree Metro Rec Plex for another day of competition, as they took on Gannon in an early match. The game saw a lot of back-and-forth action as both teams had trouble capitalizing on the scoring situations. Mercyhurst started the game strong as Derek Kagen put the team in the lead with one minute left in the first quarter.
The Golden Knights answered in the second period, scoring twice and going into the break with 2-1 on the scoreboard. The second half of the match was also low scoring, as both teams played good defense. Gannon eventually found their rhythm and put the ball in the back of the cage five times in the fourth quarter on their way to the 8-2 win.
By the Numbers
Kagen and Reinsma were the only Lakers to score, and Tony Golin recorded 12 saves on the game.
What's Next
The Laker's schedule begins to come to an end with only one more event on the schedule as they are scheduled to participate in the Mid-Atlantic Championships beginning on Friday, November 18th.
