Erie, Pa – Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo returns to action on Saturday, November 5th, as they participate in CWPA Conference Weekend Tournament.
Individual Leaders
Danilo Vujovic leads the charge for the Lakers with 38 goals and four assists this season, as he is helped by Reed Bearden with 15 goals. Teagan Thomas leads the team in assists with 15 of them while also recording 12 goals. Tony Golin's outstanding play in the goal has been the key to the Laker's defensive performance, as he recorded 191 saves this season.
Scouting The Opponents
The Lakers are scheduled to begin the competition with a game against Salem, which is coming into the weekend with 11-11 overall record, and 3-4 conference record. They are a high-scoring team, as their leader Nikola Krstonosic has recorded 95 goals so far this season. Marko Zivojinovic has scored 60 goals and his brother, Ivan Zivojinovic, has added 56.
The matchup with McKendree iss et to be another challenge for the Lakers. The Bearcats are a well-balanced team with a plethora of experienced players and it showed the last matchup with McKendree as the Lakers lost by a score of 13-6. Nico Rodriguez leads the punch for the Bearcats with 27 goals and he is helped by Breno Tabet, scorer of 25 goals.
The matchup with crosstown-rival Gannon is set to be an important challenge for Mercyhurst, as the Lakers are looking to avenge their loss to the Golden Knights two weeks ago. Gannon comes into the game with 6-13 overall record and 1-6 in conference. Alex Kotskar leads his team in goals with 70 on the season, and he is followed by Marty Kaverman with 36 goals.
