Mercyhurst Prepares For Another Weekend Slate

Morgantown, WV – The Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo team is back on the road for Morgantown, WV for another Conference Crossover. On Saturday, the Lakers will face Wagner College and Navy while squaring off against Fordham University on Sunday. Last weekend at the Penn State Behrend Tournament the Lakers came away with three wins out of four games and look for similar success this time around.

In their first game against the University at Buffalo Club team, the Lakers put away 23 goals. In the first half, they managed to score 14 goals and only allowed one against with Teagan Thomas scoring eight of the 23 goals. Owen Hardner, Reed Bearden, and Nate Cheney each got three goals each as well. 

After the UB club game, the Lakers faced the Cornell University Club team. Mercyhurst dominated the first half again leading with a score of 15-4. The Lakers sealed the deal by ending the game with a score of 30-13. 

On Sunday, Mercyhurst lost to Washington & Jefferson by a score of 13-11. The Lakers ended this first half with two goals to the President's four goals. Unfortunately, the Lakers couldn't come back from the slow start and ended the game two goals behind. 

During their last game of the weekend, Mercyhurst won 16-11 against Penn State Behrend. The Lakers took the lead in the first half finishing the half with a lead of 11-4. Tony Golin kept the Lakers in the game after a comeback from Behrend. Mercyhurst only allowed one goal in the fourth quarter to finish out the game strong. Danilo Vujovic and Derek Kagan defeated Behrend's defense scoring four goals each. 

What's Next

On October 21 through October 23, the Lakers will compete in the CWPA D II Championships. It will be hosted in Erie, Pa. at the Hallman Aquatic Center.
