Rowing Dominates at Findley Lake Autumn Classic

Findley Lake, N.Y.—The Mercyhurst Rowing teams made an early statement on Saturday at the Findley Lake Autumn Classic.

The day started out with a men's eights race that had the Lakers win with a final time of 22:19.67. Mercyhurst had two boats in the race, the second boat came in third with a final time of 23:17.02.

Once the first race was over the NCAA Division II National Runners Up got in the water for the first time this year. The women's eights took first with a final time of 25:43.39. The Lakers defeated two RIT boats, a Marietta boat, and a Penn State boat.

The men's varsity four was the next in the water, Mercyhurst finished with a final time of 25:34.58 defeated both Marietta and RIT to take first place.

In the M1X race Mercyhurst came in second to close out the first flight.

After a short break the Lakers got back to their winning ways. The Mercyhurst men's freshman fours crossed the line with a final time of 25:52.25 to take first place. The second Laker boat took fifth with a final time of 27:16.42.

In the men's twos race the Lakers turned in a time of 26:56.39 to take the win over Marietta and Penn State.

In the second men's duo race the Lakers took first, third, and fourth with times of 27:06.35, 29:40.52, and 31:16.59.

The women's fours got back to their winning ways defeating two Marietta teams and two Penn State teams with a time of 32:09.66, the second place team finished over a minute after the Lakers cross the line.

In the women's twos race the Lakers once again crossed first with a time of 29:39.96 defeating two Marietta teams.

In the final race of the day the Lakers took second and fourth in men's singles with times of 28:56.06 and 30:30.68.

The Lakers are back in the water on Oct. 9 at the Nittany Lion Chase in Howard Pa.
