Pittsburgh, PA – The Mercyhurst Women's Rowing team opened their 2024 Fall season by heading down to Pittsburgh to compete in the Head of the Ohio Regatta. The Lakers saw a couple of top-two finishes at the regatta.

How it Happened

The Lakers started their day by racing two fours in the morning and racing their top eight in the afternoon. The first four comprised Blythe Lyons, Julia Schultz, Thea Felsner, Tabea Wieland, and Madie Taylor. They finished with a time of 16:21.179 tying 1st place Duquesne University. The second four comprised Zofia Kruskowska, Grace Crounse, Nayila Harris, Jordane Hynes and Seanna Zona. They finished with a time of 18:17.927, finishing right behind Robert Morris University.

The women's eight was the last race of the day for the Lakers. The eight comprised Hilde Wadlington (1), Grace Crounse (2), Katie Kontrick (3), Zofia Kruskowska (4), Julia Schultz (5), Thea Felsner (6), Tabea Wieland (7), Blythe Lyons (8), and coxed by Seanna Zona. They finished in 3rd and only two seconds off 1st place Duquesne University.

The Lakers will hit the water next when they travel to Princeton, New Jersey to compete in the Princeton 3-Mile Chase on November 3rd.
