The Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo team took the pool at Bucknell University for the Bison Invitational. The Lakers competed hard but fell in both contests.
In game one Mercyhurst faced off against Fordham University for the second time this year. Fordham defeated Mercyhurst 25-5 in the first contest. This time the Lakers fell 13-5.Â
Fordham held the lead at the end of the first half 10-4 . Michael Gutman scored the first goal for Mercyhurst and Aleksa Vucurovic netted two goals of his own in the half. Derek Kagen added another for Mercyhurst.
 In the second half the Lakers lone tally was credited to Kagen.Â
Match two featured another opponent Mercyhurst has played once already this year in Mount St. Mary's. The Lakers were up 4-3 with 3:27 left in the first half but MSM rallied off three goals in the remaining 1:53 of the half to go up 6-4 at halftime.Â
Reed Bearden and
Brennan Cumby along with Kagen and Vucurovic scored Laker goals in the first half.
Kagan scored his third goal of the day with 2:04 left in the third quarter to make the lead 6-10 MSM however that was the last Laker goal of the day.
Joel Parnell scored the goal previous to Kagen's.
Next up for Mercyhurst is a home matchup against McKendree University. That game will take place on Saturday Sept. 25 at the Hallman Aquatic Center.
