WINTHROP, Mass.—On Thursday, the CHA announced their 2020-21 All Academic Team along with their 2020-21 CHA Student Athletes of the Year. The Lakers tied Syracuse with the most student athletes on the All-Academic Team with 21 student athletes. Four Mercyhurst Student-Athletes were also named Student-Athletes of the Year.
Rachel Marmen, Chantal Ste-Croix, K.K. Thiessen, and Alexa Vasko were named Student-Athletes of the Year, in order to be named a Student-Athlete of the Year the athletes had to had have a perfect 4.0 GPA this academic year.
Sara Boucher, Aubrey Cole, Summer-Rae Dobson, Leah Klassen, Megan Korzack, Mary Kromer, Grace Nelles, Sarah Nelles, Ena Nystrøm, Liliane Perreault, Jersey Phillips, Emily Pinto, Alexane Rheaume, Calista Rowbottom, Jenna Silvonen, Alexandria Weiss, Paige Whaley, Marmen, Ste-Croix, Thiessen, and Vasko were each named to the All-Academic Team which required a GPA over 3.0 for both semesters this past year.
On July 12th, Mercyhurst announced their 2021-22 schedule that will feature a full 32 game schedule. The Lakers will open their season against RPI on September 24th at the Mercyhurst Ice Center, Mercyhurst will start CHA play on October 29th as the Penn State Nittany Lions will come to Erie for a two game weekend series.
