Greensboro, NC—The American Baseball Coaches Association have announced their 2021 All American Teams. After being named to the NCBWA All American Honorable Mention list, D2CCA All-Region Team, NCBWA All Region, ABCA All Region, and the PSAC West First Team. Michael Krauza has been named to the 2021 ABCA All American Second Team.
Krauza finished the season with a 2.67 ERA which was 46th in Division II while being tops among all relief pitchers in the PSAC. The Murrysville native struckout 71 batters while only four got away with a walk. His 17.75 to one strikeout to walk ratio was the best in all of Division II. The former Bonnie allowed just 40 hits in 54 innings pitched, his .81 WHIP he was ranked fourth in the nation and second in the region. He finished the season with 10 wins which was the most of any pitcher in the PSAC. Krauza was also able to hold opposing hitters to a .202 average. He shined for the Lakers while in the middle of their late season playoff push. Against Slippery Rock on April 30th the graduate student threw 4.1 near perfect innings as he allowed a hit to the first batter faced out the bullpen but nothing else after that. He struckout nine while allowing just the one knock and no walks. His 22 appearances out the bullpen this season were the most since Adam Jeannette made 23 appearances in 51 games while the Lakers only played 42 games in 2021.
Despite his collegiate career ending, Krauza recently signed his first professional contact with the Houston Apollos of the American Association. In his first three games he has pitched 3.1 innings and allowed just three hits while having two strikeouts.
