Millersville, Pa—The D2CCA All-Region Teams were announced on Wednesday. After being named to the All-PSAC First Team and NWCBA All-Region Team, Michael Krauza has been named as the lone relief pitcher on the D2CCA All-Region First Team.
The Murrysville, Pa native came to Erie after playing three seasons at St. Bonaventure, with the Bonnies Krauza put up a 1-0 record while making 17 appearances and striking out 14 batters. This past season with the Lakers he had a PSAC high 10 wins while having a 2.67 ERA which was the second best of all pitchers and the best among relief pitchers. His 54 innings pitched was eight among all pitcher while being the only relief pitcher in the top 35 for innings pitched. He struckout 71 batters which was third among all PSAC pitchers and tops for relief pitchers. He walked just four as a graduate student which was the least number of walks for pitchers who qualified. Opposing hitters had a .202 average against the righty, that was third best in the PSAC.
Krauza made his Laker debut against Wheeling on March 6th. He went 3.1 innings while allowing just one run on one hit while he struckout four on opening day. His best regular season outing was against Slippery Rock on April 30th. With the Lakers in the middle of a playoff race he was nearly perfect as he allowed just one hit in 4.1 innings out of the bullpen. He allowed a hit to the first batter he saw but after that he struckout eight and didn't allow a hit or any walks. He made an appearance in each game of the playoffs for Mercyhurst. His best game was against Cal in the first round, he went 4.2 innings and allowed just one run on just one hit while he struckout a season high nine batters.
With being named to the all-region first team, Krauza will now be nominated for D2CCA All American which voting will open on May 31st.
The Mercyhurst baseball team finished the season with a record of 27-15 while they were 17-10 in PSAC play. The Lakers made their 12th straight PSAC playoffs, they have made the playoffs every year since joining the PSAC.
