Box Score 2 Erie, PA—The Mercyhurst Women's Water Polo team was able to bounce back for a big conference win against cross-town rival Gannon on Saturday. The Lakers fell to Saint Francis (PA) in a non-conference contest to round out the weekend.
Game One (W, 9-6)
Mercyhurst was able to jump out to a quick lead on the Golden Knights as Cassie Anderson scored her first of three goals just over two minutes into the game. Gannon would strike to tie the game at one. Sakura Gavin would score with under two minutes remaining in the opening period to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.
Gannon would outscore the Lakers in the second frame 3-1. Ava Gebhardt was able to score the lone goal in the second for the Lakers as they went to halftime down 4-3.
Mercyhurst went off for four goals in the third frame as Anderson buried her second and third goals of the game in the third period. Hannah Enquist and Hanna Good scored goals to give the Lakers a 7-5 lead going to into the final frame.
Sara Marin and Good scored in the fourth period and the Lakers held Gannon to just one goal for the 9-6 win. Sarah O'Keefe was able to make 13 saves in net to earn the big win for the Lakers.
Game Two (L, 10-4)
Mercyhurst was unable to secure the Saturday sweep as they fell to the Red Flash 10-4.
Rachel Morris was able to score two goals in the game, Marin and Good each scored a goal in the second game.
Sarah O'Keefe was able to make 15 saves in the loss, the Lakers were able to take 31 shots in the match, but the Red Flash were solid on the back end allowed only 15 to make its way to the net.

The Lakers will be back in Erie next weekend as they will take on Salem, McKendree, and Gannon in the final WWPA weekend before championships on April 24th and 25th.
