Scouting the Lakers (8-1, 4-0 G-MAC)
Schedule Outlook
After Saturday the Lakers have just two games remaining in the regular season.  First, the Green and Blue will head to Painesville, Ohio for a conference contest with the Storm of Lake Erie College, followed by a Top-20 showdown against No. 15 Frostburg State University on May 1st at Saxon Stadium.

Kueber is Key
Caleb Kueber had been on a tear to start the season, before hitting a bit of a roadblock during the game against Mercy on Tuesday as he was limited to a season-low four points on two goals and two helpers.  He then rebounded nicely versus D&E a day later notching six points with all four of his shots hitting the back of cage.  His 40 goals so far this year has him just nine shy of his own mark set in 2019 for most goals in a season.  Kueber continues to pace the Green and Blue in goals (40), points (65), shots (74) and shots on goal (59).

Variety of Goal Scorers
Mercyhurst was limited to a season-low 13 goals against the Mavericks, before unloading on the Senators on Wednesday as 18 Lakers tallied a marker that day.  Patrick Carrozzi and Kueber both had four.  The group of Jared Butler, Jacob Emerson, Nicholas Mabe, Colin Schmatz, Casey Scott and Quinn Simmonson each netted a pair.  Ten other players buried one, including Bo Columbus, Stephen Katz, Shea Newell, Joel Robare and Mike Wtulich who all picked up their first of the campaign.

Givin' With Devin
Devin Pipher handed out eight helpers between the two contests to bring his team lead up to 34.  He has also added 17 goals and 51 points which both rank second on the side.

Dominance at the X
Despite being matched up against the top faceoff man in the country on Tuesday in Antonio Rey the Lakers held their own as freshman Bo Columbus won 15 of 23 passing Rey's 14 victories.  Then, versus D&E it was all about the Green and Blue as Shawn Doran went 11-12, while both Ryan Jobson and Columbus combined for a perfect 16-16.  Charles Greenlese got into the action as well posting a 4-8 mark.  On the year Mercyhurst is 189-272 at X for a .695 winning percentage, while holding the opposition to 83-272 (.305).

Strong in the Crease
Cole Pellicano is 8-1 between the pipes for the Lakers with a .514 save percentage posting a 7.73 goals against average aided by his 57 saves on 191 shots faced in 419:16 minutes played.  The other three keepers Brendan Eyestone, Brett Olney and Jason Pawlak each saw a quarter versus D&E combining for three saves.

Stat Pack
The Lakers dominated the Senators on Wednesday outshooting them 64-15, (38-6 on goal).  Mercyhurst was perfect on clears going 15-15, while D&E went 18-26.  At X the home team was dominant taking 31 of 36 faceoffs.

NCAA Leaders (as of games through 4/15/21)
Mercyhurst leads the country in assists per game (14.44) and points per game (34.33).  The Green and Blue are second in total assists (130), shot percentage (.390), and scoring offense (19.89).  They sit third in scoring margin (12.78), clearing percentage (.902) and face-off win percentage (.695).  Individually, Kueber leads the country in points per game (7.22) and goals per game (4.44), while ranking sixth in assists per game (2.78).  Pipher is the second best assist man in the country handing out 3.78 helpers per game.  Defensively, Doran sits in sixth at the X with his .694 winning percentage and seventh in ground balls scooping up 9.78 per contest.  Between the pipes Pellicano's 7.73 goals against average leaves him seventh nationally.

In the Barracks (1-5, 1-2 G-MAC)
Alderson Broaddus arrives in Erie after suffering a 23-4 setback at the hands of Lake Erie College on Tuesday afternoon.  In that game Braxton Roman (2), Cameron Russo and Jay Shifflet provided the Battlers offense, while Noah Christopher made a dozen stops in cage.  On the season Connor Calmbacher leads the team in points (11) and goals (10).  Roman is next on the squad with nine points thanks to five goals and four assists, followed by four points each from Ty Cadeau and Shifflet.  At the dot AB has struggled mightily going 31-170.  Jackson Barnett is the main man at the draw taking 116 and winning 12, while the player with the most wins is Russo with 16.  Christopher has started all but one game for the Battlers posting a 19.40 goals against average along with a .405 save percentage.  Ace Mallonee is head of the Battlers barracks for the second season.
