Box Score 2 Erie, PA—The Mercyhurst Women's Water Polo team made the shirt drive to Penn State Behrend to take the Austin College Kangaroos and the host Penn State Behrend Lions. The Lakers went 1-1 on the day, Mercyhurst fell to Austin in the first game of the day by a score of 11-9 but bounced back to beat the Lions 11-3 in the night cap of the doubleheader.
Game One (L, 11-9)
The Lakers and Kangaroos matched up for the first time this morning in Erie. Despite holding Austin to 0-10 on the powerplay the Lakers dropped their third game of the season. Cassie Anderson continued her strong season as she was able to net four goals for the Lakers while also adding an assist. Hanna Good also continued her great start with a hattrick of her own. Rachel Morris and Hannah Enquist each added a goal for the Lakers. Sarah O'Keefe got the start in the cage and was able to make 12 saves while adding a steal and an assist.
Game Two (W, 11-3)
Mercyhurst was able to jump out on top just two minutes in as Sara Marin was able to score her first goal of the day. The Lakers never looked back as they the Lions to a .158 shooting percentage and not allowing a powerplay goal on four attempts. Madison Hoefakker started game two for the Lakers as she made eight saves and added a steal. Eight different Lakers scored in the second game in including Morris who added two more and Good who added a goal and two assists. Anderson was able to score two goals while Enquist added her second of the day. Marin scored one more time after she netted the first goal of the game while Sakura Gavin and Alexa Anderberg each added a goal in the convincing win over Penn State Behrend.
