This weekend the Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo team enters the CWPA Division II Eastern Championships playing on the Lakers home turf in Erie, PA. They will play at the Hallman Aquatic Center. On Saturday, the Lakers will face their first opponent, Salem University, at 5:40 pm followed by another match on Saturday against Gannon University at 8:50 pm. On Sunday, Mercyhurst will play McKendree University at 10:30 am. The Mid-Atlantic West Region Championships will be held November 6^th and 7^th for the teams who continue to win and move on. 
 
The Lakers managed to pick up their first win of the season last weekend against Penn State Behrend. 
 
Even though the Penn State Behrend Nittany Lions started the scoring off in the first quarter, it sparked a response from Mercyhurst as Mathieu Davis returned a goal 13 seconds later. Joel Parnell, Aleksa Vucurovic, and Derek Kagan also scored in the first quarter which led the score being 5-3 to the Lakers. At halftime the score became 10-4, with a 6 goal lead from the Lakers. In the second quarter Reed Bearden added to the score sheet along with Kagan, Nicholas Miller, and Davis for 2. Even with the Nittany Lions trying to make a comeback, the Lakers held them off for a 14-11 win.
