Women's Water Polo Wins Twice at Grove City Invite

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's water polo team fell to Salem 12-9 before defeating Wittenberg 16-4. The Lakers finished off the weekend with a 20-12 win over Grove City.
 
Salem 12, Mercyhurst 9
Cassie Anderson had one goal and three assists while Maddie Nye scored three goals and Mason Feldstein had one goal and two assists. Sara Marin recorded two goals while Hanna Good and Alexa Anderberg had one goal each. Single assists were picked up by Michaela Hershey, Rachel Byrnes and Lindsey Mizrahi.
 
In net, Sarah O'Keefe made 10 saves and had one steal.
 
For Salem, Chloe Woodbine, Annefleur ten Bloemendal, Maryanna Antonios, Margherita Garibbo and Erin Zappia had points. In net, Philippa Piper made 10 saves and had two steals.
 
Salem outshot Mercyhurst 28-26. Salem was 4-for-7 on the power play while Mercyhurst was 1-for-8.
 
Mercyhurst 16, Wittenberg 4
Ava Gebhardt scored four goals while Isabella Morris tallied two goals and two assists. Marin had three goals. Good and Hershey recorded two goals and one assist each and Anderson had one goal and two assists. Hannah Engquist scored one goal and one assist and Mizrahi had one goal. Byrnes picked up two assists while Rachel Morris, Jennifer Moshinsky, Feldstein and Nye had one assist each.
 
In net, Madison Hoefakker made 16 saves and grabbed two steals.
 
For Wittenberg, Savanah Phillips, Emma Menjivar and Tatum Bruno scored goals. Caroline Coleman made three saves in net.
 
Wittenberg outshot Mercyhurst 25-22. The Lakers went 1-for-3 on the power play while Wittenberg was 1-for-6.
 
Mercyhurst 20, Grove City 12
Rachel Morris recorded one goal and tallied five assists while Anderson record five points. Byrnes and Moshinsky had four points each. Marin and Feldstein had three points. Good, Hershey, Engquist and Isabella Morris had two points a piece. Single points were picked up by Anderberg and Mizrahi.
 
In net, Hoefakker made 13 saves for the Lakers.
 
For Grove City, Michelle Danley, Reese Trauger, Elaine Miller, Tia Kannel, Elizabeth Andrews, Sohpia Melanson and Tessa Leatherwood had points. In net, Alexa Dunn made six saves.
