Men's Soccer to Open the Season on Thursday

The Mercyhurst men's soccer team is set to kick off the 2019 season when it hosts Urbana (Ohio) on Sept. 5 on Saxon Stadium at 1:00 p.m. The Lakers will then start their four straight away games on Sept. 8. at Ohio Dominican at 2:00 p.m.
 
All-Time Series
Mercyhurst and Urbana last played in 2016 where the Blue Knights won 2-0. The Lakers hold a 5-3-1 series advantage over the Blue Knights. Mercyhurst has a 12-7 goal scored margin.
 
Mercyhurst and Ohio Dominican have faced off four times, with the last meeting being in 2014 where Mercyhurst won 3-1. The two teams are even with a 2-2-0 record and six goals scored. 
 
Scouting Urbana
Urbana was ranked third in the Mountain East Conference. It finished the 2018 season with a 8-7-3, 7-4-3 record and lost in the MEC Tournament. Urbana has 12 freshman and 15 returners.
 
The Blue Knights has played two pre-season exhibition games so far this season. They defeated Ohio Dominican 1-0 and lost to Tiffin 2-1.
 
Scouting Ohio Dominican
Ohio Dominican was ranked sixth in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Panthers finished last season with a 8-9-1, 7-6-1 record. They lost in the G-MAC Quarterfinals. They have nine newcomers and 19 returners.
 
A Look at the Lakers
The Lakers were ranked first in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Conference. They finished last season with a 9-6-2, 5-4-2 record.

Parking
Fans, please be advised that the parking lot in front of Saxon Stadium (P10) will be shut down due to tailgating for football. Fans are encouraged to park in Lot 8 and Lot 12. Parking is free on campus for those attending either soccer game. Fans who wish to park in Lot 8 are encouraged to enter on the Briggs Avenue entrance, and for those wishing to park in Lot 12, are encouraged to enter via Parade Street or the Main Entrance.
