Box Score JOHNSTOWN, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Baseball team has been eliminated from the PSAC Tournament after a tough 12-8 loss to Seton Hill.
Matthew Gibson led the way for the Lakers with three hits and four RBI and was a double away from a cycle.
Josh Surowiec also had three hits in the Laker loss with
Luke Baranchak also having a multiple hit game with two hits and two RBI.
Game Recap:
- In the third, Matthew Gibson would kick off the inning with a triple to left field and would cross home plate on the next at bat as Alex O'Donnell would hit him in tying the game at one
- Seton Hill would respond to the Lakers run in the bottom of the third as six runs would cross home plate off of six hits
- Mercyhurst wouldn't allow the Griffins to pull away after Matthew Gibson hit a grand slam to then only trail 7-6
- In the Seton Hill 4th, Denny would single to left scoring Stotler after reaching third on a balk making the score 8-6 SHU
- Just as Seton Hill was pulling away, Lakers own Luke Baranchak hit a two-run homer to then tie the game in the seventh inning, 8-8
- The Griffins would keep the bats going and eventually would score two runs in the seventh and eighth inning and would take the game 12-8
- This would eliminate the Lakers from the PSAC Tournament
- The Griffins own, Kenny wells would get his fourth win of the season (4-1) going three innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and struck out five
- Mercyhurst's Russell Lamovec would get his third loss on the year (4-3) going 1.1 innings, allowing two runs, two hits and recorded one strikeout
Next Up: The Lakers will wait for selection Sunday to see if they receive and at-large bid into the regional tournament. The Selection show will start at 10:00 PM.
