ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team rallied for a 4-3 victory over PSAC opponent Indiana (Pa.) at the Westwood Racquet Club on Wednesday. The Lakers are ranked third in the Atlantic Region while IUP is No. 1.
Doubles
- IUP won 2 of 3 matchups to take a 1-0 edge through pairs action.
- Mercyhurst's doubles win came from the No. 1 duo of Kayla Frost and Sangeeta Roopan, who took a 6-4 victory over Katya Minchenkova and Thais Andreotti.
Singles
- The Lakers fell behind, 2-0, before Ivona Plecevic won the No. 3 match over Laura Dunarova, 6-2, 6-2, to get MU on the board. Plecevic had been inactive since late March before returning to bring the Laker lineup back to full strength.
- Roopan brought the Lakers even to 2-2 with her victory at No. 2 against Julia Newman. Roopan won in a tiebreaker in the first set and then used that momentum for a 7-6 (5), 6-0 win.
- Mercyhurst fell back, 3-2, before rallying with a pair of three-set, comeback victories.
- Athina Tsagkaraki drew the Lakers into a 3-3 tie as she battled back to win, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-3, over Andreotti at No. 4.
- Naomi Jahr finished the comeback with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, win against Mariana Valenzuala in the No. 5 contest. Jahr had trailed 4-3 in the final set before rallying for the final three games.

- The Lakers (10-6, 2-1) will be in action next when they host non-conference opponent West Virginia State at the Penn State Behrend Courts.
