Box Score 2 WILSON, N.C. -- The Mercyhurst baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against Alderson-Broaddus on Thursday. The Lakers won, 6-5 and 4-3. Individual recaps are below.
Mercyhurst 6, Alderson-Broaddus 5
Kenny Robinson smacked a walk-off single to lift the Lakers in the day's opener. The two-out single plated
Josh Surowiec with the winning run.
Surowiec finished 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and two runs.
Alex O'Donnell batted 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Robinson finished with two RBI.
The Lakers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Robinson recorded an RBI when reaching on an infield error before O'Donnell collected an RBI single. An error plated the third Laker run.
In the fourth,
Jack Elliott pushed the Laker lead to 4-0 with an RBI single.
A-B scored in its final three innings at the plate, tallying one run in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.
During the MU seventh,
Matthew Schneider drew a one-out walk and, then, his pinch-runner,
Luke Baranchak stole second base and scored on a two-out single by Surowiec. A single by
Dominic Cecere pushed Surowiec to third, setting the stage for Robinson's game-ending hit.
Christian Young started on the hill for Mercyhurst, allowing three runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings. He recorded five strikeouts and one walk.
Lucas Folmar was the winning pitcher as he worked 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Hunter Snyder and
Jack Elliott blasted two run-homers during the Lakers' four-run fourth inning.
Alderson-Broaddus pulled within one run in the seventh inning before
Tyler Garbee closed out the save with three strikeouts in the frame.
Russell Lamovec was MU's starting pitcher, allowing one run on two hits in four innings of work. He had four strikeouts and three walks.
Ryan Smerkar worked two relief innings for the win. He had four strikeouts.
