GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's water polo team took down Grove City 23-11 during non-conference action on Friday.

Maddie Nye led the Lakers with six goals.
Sarah Hershey and
Rachel Byrnes each had three goals,
Sara Marin and
Jennifer Moshinsky scored two goals a piece and single goals were recorded by
Rachel Morris,
Michaela Hershey,
Alexa Anderberg and
Isabella Morris.

Grove City scored the first goal of the game, but Mercyhurst answered quickly and never looked back.

The Lakers lead 6-2 after the first quarter with goals from
Sarah Hershey,
Rachel Morris, Moshinsky, Nye, Marin and Anderberg.

During the second quarter, the Lakers extended their lead to 10-4.
Michaela Hershey,
Sarah Hershey, Byrnes and Moshinsky tallied goals.

Mercyhurst didn't hold back in the third quarter, scoring six more goals to make it 16-8.
Rachel Morris,
Isabella Morris, Marin, Nye, Byrnes and Feldstein picked up the goals for the Lakers.

Nye then scored four goals in the fourth quarter while Feldstein had two goals and
Sarah Hershey added one more goal to give Mercyhurst a 23-11 win.

Sarah O'Keefe picked up the win in net for Mercyhurst (2-13).

For Grove City (9-6), Tessa Leatherwood and Elaine Miller had four goals each while Elizabeth Andrews scored two goals and Abby Spicher recorded one goal.
The Lakers are back in action Saturday at 9:50 a.m. against Penn State Behrend. They also play Penn State Main at 4:00 p.m. Both games will be played at Penn State Behrend.
